Annual Graduation and Conferring of Honorary Fellowship on Danuta Gray

L-R Danuta Gray with Caroline Casey and Phillip Matthews

For many of us here at NCI, Graduation is our favourite time of year; a time to celebrate the achievement and hard work of our students over the time they’ve spent with us. This year’s ceremonies were no exception. They took place last Thursday and Friday at the RDS and more than 1000 students graduated with a certificate, degree or diploma during the course of the two days.

As part of the ceremony on Friday, NCI President Dr. Phillip Matthews conferred an honorary fellowship on Danuta Gray, Chief Executive of O2, for her business leadership and dedication to corporate social responsibility.

Visually impaired social entrepreneur and founder of disability organisation Kanchi, Caroline Casey, delivered a fantastic citation for Danuta who, after 9 years at the helm of O2, will step down from her post next month.

Caroline spoke very movingly about their relationship and said: “Danuta is a formidable business leader with a big heart, who has stamped her personal imprint on the business community and continually championed the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of Irish society.”

NCI President Dr. Phillip Matthews added that Danuta's “embracement of diversity is an exact match for the mission of the college, which is to widen participation in higher education and unlock each student’s potential.”
